About

“I would like the food and photography to do the talking” …. That’s how a really modest person would have begun this page. However, this is me – not Ms.Modest. So bear with me as I lull you to a deep sleep talking about myself.

My name is Swapna and I christened this blog after me “Food for Swaps”. (again the modesty of it all!). Of course I like to play off the words and the blog is also about ‘Swap’ping recipes. I have a huge collection of cookbooks (it’s an addiction actually). I can’t seem to pass a bookstore without longingly looking at the CB section and inevitably grabbing one and running home to read it cover to cover. Yes, I did say read it… the writing and recipes warm the cockles of my heart more than Chicken Soup for the Soul! (Sorry Jack Canfield!) So having this gargantuan collection of awesomeness and not putting it to any use is like owning a Ferrari and always parking it in the garage. (No, I don’t own a Ferrari). When the husband (he’s called Co-Resident in the blog) and I moved to a place of our own, I was inspired to cook. Now we all know that Inspiration in my case was a ‘Cook or starve’ situation. So I donned my chef’s hat. (No, I am not professionally trained … ahem ahem… who would have guessed? :P). I love to start off with a recipe and then add my own genius twists (or so I think) to end up at something palatable. Of course I’ve had my fair share of disasters… what’s winning without a taste of loss? That’s when it struck me … I needed a place to store my tried and tested, bestest recipes. In a time long long ago, I would have used a leather bound diary and clipped little pictures to it. But since we are all so techno savy these days and my handwriting has gone to the dogs, I give me ‘The Blog’. It’s designed to keep a tab on my adventures in the kitchen and the pictures to serve as proof of the pudding!

I am supremely flattered and so happy that you stopped by to see my food and my photographs. When I started the blog I never imagined that anyone other than me and my family would take the time (or be forced) to browse through my grouses. So I am eternally grateful! (Ok. That’s overdoing it.) I am amused and pleased is more like it. So please continue to drop by, linger, comment and just hang around. It keeps me feeling like a Rockstar with a ladle!

Ending this rant with my favorite prayer – Food Glorious Food ;)

Swaps.

While I don’t want to be vain enough to assume that you would plagiarize my content or steal my photos, I would appreciate it if you would drop me a note if you have done so. Imitation is the best form of flattery, but we don’t want you getting in trouble over it. Yes again, I am all about concern for YOU :P

Reviews

No one pays me to review stuff. (Actually no one has paid me so far!) So rest assured that it’s genuine and not skewed. However if you do want me to review something and pay me for it (more money for cookbooks!) feel free to contact me. I can’t guarantee I’ll sing praises but I will try to sugar coat my rants if any. Did I scare you away??

You know, I've only just started cooking and I'm always taking recipes off you and suddenly, everybody thinks that I'm an awesome cook! :)
Your USP is that you make it all feel and actually become very simple, and the pictures look great.
Thanks, and do keep cooking and blogging!

Igirit, that's like the biggest compliment you can give me! :) Thanks a ton... (So I'm guessing you'll tell me off, if I deviate from the simple path?! :D )

Hi Swapna,

I actually ended up here looking for a food blogger and I have to admit that I did not expect that this could be so much fun. Totally overwhelmed with your reviews and clicks.

Alright so I'll get to the point, I work for IPAN H&K Strategies, a public relations agency, and we have a Bangalore based food manufacturing client. We are looking to get in touch with a popular blogger who writes food related reviews in Bangalore region so please share your contact details with me as soon as possible. I can be reached at rumor723@gmail.com.
